Bottom of the Pops @ Dandelion Radio 10 Years This Year – January 2023 Show

On my show this month:

Another year and lots of fantastic music ahead. If it’s as good as 2022 I’m excited already.

We start 2023 with a trio of songs from Australia. The Sydney music scene has been pretty dull for years but with bands like RMFC, Daughter Bat & The Lip Stings and the wonderful Gee Tee who’s latest single, “I hate Driving In The City” has been my latest earworm. Also, anybody who’s driven in the city in Sydney will know exactly what they are talking about! Ahead of Invasion Day, otherwise known as Australia day comes, “This Is Australia” by Marrugeku … powerful stuff indeed and probably the best hip hop track Australia has ever produced. Also Hot Tubs out of Melbourne do their take on the Sleaford Mods thing and it works too.

Very sadly last month we lost a raft of important musical icons Terry Hall, Martin Duffy (Felt / Primal Scream), also, here at BOTP what’s hit us hardest is losing Hamish Kilgour of The Clean. There’s not much we can say except we remember him and The Clean as one of the finest outfits of their generation.

What else do we have in the show. A new release by Steve Mason, Falmouth’s finest, The Golden Dregs are a great discovery as well as new UK outfit Hotel Lux. A fantastic cover of Joy Division’s interzone by US outfit New Buck Biloxi has been getting many plays here.

Enjoy 4 hours of fabulous music to set us up for another year.
