Solo Album by Chicago based rhymes king Kid Static.

Born and raised in Chicago, Kid Static started writing music to the sound of electronic drums emanating from his computer.  “I’m a dork at heart”, says Static. “If computers didn’t have something to do with the equation, this music wouldn’t be me.” And having been born into the tech-savvy generation-Y, and raised on Motown and West African Music, Static’s music merges technology with genres and styles.  When he finally decided to start putting the satirical raps he did for his friends on records, something altogether wonderful and playful was created.

Static’s music was truly different than anything released by the Chicago underground. And as a result, people took notice of this “Kid” who seemingly came out of nowhere with a diverse style and sound.  He quickly shared the stage with many of Chicago’s up and coming underground artists at the time like Kid Sister, Cool Kids, and Flosstradamus, and was soon featured in almost every local publication, and lauded as the “next up” in various online media like XLR8R and Pitchfork.

Kid Static — It GleamsIt Gleams represents the beginning of the maturation of this unique artist.  Listen to the music and you hear not only a clever wordsmith with a jagged sense of humor, but also a musician with a keen gift for composition. Kid Static is an experimentalist who isn’t afraid to take every influence from life and make it sing out loud.

You’ll now find Kid Static in Echo Park, Los Angeles, continuing to follow his dreams and further develop his musical playbook.  You’ll see him in LA throwing parties with the Hood Internet, and bringing the likes of Young L from the Pack, Mr. MFN Exquire, and Danny Brown to perform with Ham On Everything; and performing locally with personalities like Open Mike Eagle from rap collective Swim Team, and solo at venues like The Echo and at festivals like FMLY Fest.

“Through working with people who see my passion for diversity and music, and through sheer hustle, I know I can make this thing work.”  We know he can too.
